STEAM METHANE REFORMING
DESCRIPTION
Steam Methane Reforming is by far the most important industrial process for hydrogen manufacturing. It amounts to about 80% of Hydrogen produced in the US and 40% in the world.
Firstly, natural gas is preheated and desulphurized before mixing with steam. Methane reacts with the steam in the presence of a catalyst to produce hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and a small amount of carbon dioxide. Finally, in the Pressure-swing adsorption system, carbon dioxide and other impurities are removed from the gas stream, leaving essentially pure hydrogen. Moreover, the desorbed gas from PSA can be used as fuel for combustion in the Reformer.
This technology is the most favourable where Natural Gas is easily available. Having the least operational cost figures, this technology is most preferable for higher capacities.
Nuberg GPD has been using this technology for years, and assures more than 99.999% purity of Hydrogen produced. It is a very economical method of Hydrogen production. Nuberg believes in providing the most cost-effective and situation-specific solution to all your gas needs. Hence, we have a range of different products to suit every need.
